Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 22, 2023.
  • We're glad you've chosen to review DeafLove's Privacy Policy ("Policy")! In this section, we explain how and to whom we disclose, as well as how we collect, store, and protect your information. We also recommend reviewing our Terms of Service.
  • To enhance your user experience on our websites and microsites (e.g., deaflove.net) and when using our digital products and services (such as contests or surveys), we collect certain information about you. Additionally, you can share information with other DeafLove users ("Users") on the sites, and sometimes we may need to transmit your data.
  • 1. INFORMATION COLLECTION

    Naturally, we can't help you make connections if we don't have some information about you, such as basic profile data and the characteristics of people you'd like to meet. We also collect information about your use of our services, such as visit logs, and information from third parties. We'll explain more about this below.

    Registration Information

    When using our services, you provide us with certain information. This includes:

  • Name;
  • Age;
  • Photos;
  • Location;
  • Email address;
  • Social media contacts;
  • To register an account, you will need to create a password. After registration, you can view and modify this information at any time by logging into DeafLove or by contacting the service support. This does not apply to your location, which will be updated automatically if you grant DeafLove access to it in your device settings. You are responsible for keeping your personal information in your account up to date.

    Profile Information

    We recommend being cautious about the information you reveal about yourself and not including email addresses, links, messenger details, full names, addresses, and other sensitive information that can be used by malicious individuals for criminal purposes. By sharing personal information, including the extent to which you disclose personal information when posting information about yourself or communicating with other users, you have control. Section 4 below provides more details about who has access to the information you post on DeafLove.

    Profile Verification Information

    In the interest of security and to improve the user experience, we may ask users to undergo profile verification. Verification may require information about your sign languages and, in some cases, video verification. This is only necessary to ensure that you are not hearing. We also combat the creation of fake accounts that could be used to harm other users or commit cybercrimes - such accounts pose a threat to the DeafLove community and hinder other users from enjoying their interactions. Verification may be required to prevent cases of fraud. Additionally, you can undergo video verification voluntarily.

    2. USE OF YOUR INFORMATION

    Moderation Practices

  • We use automated systems and moderator assistance to monitor and review accounts (including photos and other user profile information) and messages for compliance with our Terms of Service. If we detect accounts or messages that, according to certain criteria, violate our Terms of Service, we will send a warning and restrict or block the user's access to that account. Users can contact DeafLove to appeal this decision.
  • If you post materials that do not comply with our Terms of Service, we have the right to restrict or block access to your account.

    3. WHAT INFORMATION OTHER USERS CAN SEE ABOUT YOU

    We have the best users, and we want the whole world to know about it, so we have developed a range of special features that allow you to meet other users.

    When using the DeafLove site, you should be aware that all the data you post may be accessible to its users and other individuals. We want you to be careful about the information you post, as it may become public.

    Please be cautious when posting personal information in your profile, such as religion, health data, or sexual preferences. Such information may be provided by you voluntarily when creating a profile, but you are not obliged to do so. Remember that photos you post on DeafLove can also reveal information about you.

    By providing or uploading personal information about yourself, you agree to its processing and publication in the public domain.

    3. OUR AGE POLICY

    We want our site to be enjoyed by as many people as possible, but our users must be at least 18 years old!

    DeafLove intentionally does not collect any information about minors, does not attract such individuals to use the service, and does not encourage them to do so. If we become aware of a user under the age of 18 registering and providing personal data, we will take action to delete such a profile and all information associated with it. If we have deleted your profile for violating the minimum age rule, we may retain your email and IP addresses to prevent you from attempting to circumvent our rules by creating a new profile.

    4. SECURITY

    DeafLove takes necessary security measures to protect and prevent the loss, improper use, disclosure, alteration, and unauthorized access to information under our control, including your personal data. We apply all reasonable security measures to safeguard the confidentiality of your data, and our technical experts are constantly working to keep DeafLove a secure place for communication.

    Unfortunately, no website or data transmission over the internet is entirely secure, and even we cannot guarantee complete protection against unauthorized access, breaches, data loss, and other violations. We urge you to take necessary precautions to protect your data, including:

  • Log out at the end of your session. You never know who might use it!
  • Never disclose your DeafLove account password to anyone!
  • Regularly change your password.
  • If you believe someone has gained access to your password or account, please follow the instructions below. We cannot guarantee the security of your personal data during transmission to our site, and any transmission is at your own risk.

    5. YOUR RIGHTS

    Privacy laws in your country may grant you the following rights:

  • Right to information: to know what personal data the organization processes and why (this Policy).
  • Right of access: you can request a copy of your data.
  • Right to rectification: if data is incorrect, you have the right to have it corrected.
  • Right to erasure: you have the right to delete data under certain circumstances. To delete a profile, you must indicate the reason for deletion. Please note that we do not delete profiles without reason and before the publication deadline has expired.
  • Right to restrict processing: in some cases, you have the right to request a cessation of processing, but the data will not be deleted.
  • Right to data portability: you can request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format that can be transferred to another provider.
  • Right to object: under certain circumstances (including when data is processed based on legitimate interests or for marketing purposes), you can object to such processing.
  • Rights related to automated decision-making, including the creation of a cognitive-behavioral profile: in this area, there are rights related to the fact that processing carried out solely on an automated basis may lead to a decision that has legal and other significant consequences for a person. In such circumstances, your rights include the right to human intervention in the decision-making process.
  • The full list of your rights (which may include rights not mentioned above) may vary depending on your country of residence. You should independently familiarize yourself with your rights under the privacy laws applicable in your country.

    If you have concerns regarding the handling of your request or your personal data, your first point of contact should be us, using the contact details provided above.

    6. DATA RETENTION

    We only retain your personal information as long as it is necessary for us based on legitimate interests (as described in section 2 above) and in accordance with applicable law. Please read the paragraph "Information for profile verification" in section 1 above for details of our policy.

    7. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

    DeafLove is continuously evolving, and from time to time, we may revise our Privacy Policy. The latest version of the Policy always takes precedence in regulating our use of your information and can be found at https://deaflove.net/privacy/. If we make a significant change to this Privacy Policy in our view, we will notify you by sending an email to the email address associated with your account or by posting a notice on DeafLove.

    The last change to this Privacy Policy was made on October 1, 2023.
